When they have read the question on your subject, their mind starts answering the question already.

You can also use a subject that commands your reader. Statements such as "Act now and get this once in a lifetime opportunity", or "Double, triple and even quadruple what you are earning in one year". This type of subject deals with the benefits  your company provides with your product and services.

You may also use breaking news as your subject to intrigue your subscriber. For example, if you deal with car engine parts you can write in your subject, "Announcing the new engine that uses no gasoline, It runs on water". This creates curiosity with the reader and will lead them to open the mail and read on.

In the past year, the Internet has gone from being just a source of referrals to my business, to being the prime source of my business. Last year about 2% of my income came from the Internet; now it's 95%. And the switch has been because I deliver information online.

Many businesses, however, do not take advantage of the huge consumer thirst for information. Instead, they just provide brochures and catalogues online. But what Internet users want is the information and the knowledge that exists within businesses.

So, to enhance your business and to ensure that your company succeeds online, make sure you provide information and knowledge-based products, such as ebooks and audio files. That way you'll be tapping into the consumer demand for information. You will be able to make money out of selling the information you normally keep only for your customers. With the Internet you can now sell that information to anyone.

Myth 1: People buy a product at the cheapest price they can find.

That is not true - if it was then companies like Rolex and would not exist - Timex would have put them out of business a long time ago.  Despite the ease of research that the internet affords - buyers are generally lazy and don't undertake full research.  Even on eBay where it is far easier to check the relative prices of a product - people often buy a product at a higher price than they could.  So what causes people to buy?  These are called buying triggers - the most common are:

• Confidence in the seller
• A high perceived value
• Recommendations
• Ease of purchase

Blasting Myth 1:
Establish your credentials - for example we have over 20 years of business consultancy experience - so we know what works and what does not work in a business.

Find ways of enhancing the perceived value of your product or service by adding extras or clearly demonstrating the value of it's purchase.

Ensure that you include some actual recommendations within your sales letter.
Make it easy to purchase and receive your product by not introducing any barriers to purchase such as extra forms, obscure or complex payment methods.

Myth 2: Offering your customers numerous different options will boost your sales

When confronted with several options, most customers have difficulty making a decision. They often react by procrastinating - and going to a seller who offers a clearer product.  Now by this we don't say add extras or up sells, just clearly state what is included in the product and don't offer options that not only confuse but making your selling and processing more difficult.

The human mind works better when offered the two options "buy", "don't buy".

Blasting Myth 2:
Only offer one product - or product package per page.  You can have a clear (and short) menu on each page to encourage multiple purchases.
If you have more than one option for a product or service - then give them different names and present them each separately.  For example you can call them "silver service", "gold service", "opal service" etc.  This is what we did with our various marketing services and it works quite well.

You should always aim at a small, easily understood product or service range.  You should be able to explain each of your products in one or two sentences.  If you can't do this - how do you expect your potential buyers to understand what they are buying?

Myth 3: Everybody Needs My Product or Service

Unfortunately, most people don't believe that they do need a particular service of product.  Obviously with items such as Ipods - your teenager will try and tell you they really, really, really need one, but this is peer pressure that has been built up with millions of dollars.  Much of this was spent on research into what there market wanted - and they got it right!

If you believe this myth then you also believe that you can succeed without doing much marketing or selling.  Unfortunately, despite what some marketers tell you - it does not happen that way.  Undoubtedly there some very successful marketers around, but they will all admit that a great deal of market research, testing and reviewing of their offerings - happened before they became successful.

Building a successful business is hard work - most of it devoted to finding potential customers and then matching them with your products and services.  Even if most people can use your product or service, you still need a marketing strategy to reach them and a persuasive sales message to close sales - because you can bet your last dollar - that where there a lots of potential customers – there are just as many sellers.

• Do your homework - find out where your potential customers are, what particular needs and desires they have and what they are seeking to solve these.
• Look for a narrowly defined niche market where your product or service will solve a unique need of the customers.
• Design your product or service to meet these needs.
• Test, Change, Test, Refine, Test and obtain customer feedback.

It's a win-win situation. Your articles provide great content for your web site, and they can produce many other marketing benefits for your site too.
The marketing benefits that having articles relating to your web site can provide are huge, compared to the work involved. If your articles are picked up by the major article distribution networks, they can be shown all over the internet, each one with your resource box under it with a link to your site. This essentially does 3 things for you:
1. It provides you link popularity. These links are highly targeted because they follow your article. Your article is obviously relevant to your site, and so it stands to reason that anyone reading the article is interested in that topic. If they follow your link to your web site, that is targeted traffic at its best. With more links pointing to your web site, your ranking in the search engines will improve.
2. They present you as an expert. By writing knowledgably about your subject, readers can easily see that you know your stuff. When they follow your link to your site, they already have a level of trust and confidence in you, which will help you to convert more sales and produce more profit.
3. Gets you noticed. Many articles are also beneficial to both company and its traffic. When your readers like the articles, they are more likely to tell their friends, family and peers about you, and recommend your web site to them, providing for a larger volume of traffic. You get bigger sales if your traffic trusts and believes in you prior to the seeing your site. Your product or services would be much easier to sell when they know that you know what you are doing and talking about.
So ok, we have established that articles are very important to your site and to your internet business. Articles are crucial and to keep ahead of the game, a site must have articles, it is imperative. There is one dilemma, though, not many people like writing articles.
Many website owners would rather spend their time on something else, and unless you're a big time company, you don't have the necessary resources to use on a pool of article writers. Plagiarism or copying of other articles is frowned upon and could easily get you into trouble, worst case scenario; a hefty fine and jail time.
So what are the other options?
Well, for starters if you hate writing articles and you can't afford to hire people to write for you, then don't. Get free articles. The first place to look at for free articles is in the public domain.  Here you won't have problems with copyright infringement and the potential penalties and fines if you get caught for plagiarism.
Public domain articles are articles freely given to the public for public use. You can do whatever you want with them. You can place them on your site, name them as yours, put them in a newsletter; its your decision. Always remember, though, that you will have to choose articles that are very relevant to your site content.
The downside to public domain articles is that since they are free for everybody to use, many of your competitors may have access to them as well. Since every site needs to be original and unique, even though you have the same niche, this could be a predicament. You may also have to edit them a bit to place more keywords and keyword phrases to make them better.
To find public domain articles, do searches on Google for "public domain" + "your topic".
A recent trend has been to purchase 'private label' articles. Writers and authors create the articles and offer them to web site owners with the rights to edit and amend them. If you can obtain private label rights to articles surrounding your subject, you can present them as your own and sign yourself as the author. Because these writers are selling them to multiple site owners, you can usually get private label articles cheaper than hiring someone to write them specifically for you. Again, the problem arises that your competitors may also have access to the same articles, so a recommendation would be to edit them significantly enough to make them uniqe.
Do a search on Google for "private label" + "your topic".
Another way to get free articles is to allow other sites which have the same subject or topic as yours to submit articles to your site. This should be only to enhance your existing content or else all your articles would be leading to other sites, since these articles would have resource boxes with them that could link or direct the readers to the author's site. This method is ok to build up content for your site, but will not create the same viral effect that distributing your own uniqe articles can do. That's why it is so important to have your own articles.
But, to truly feel the impact of what a good article to you, go for original ones. There are many article writers who do part time and freelance article writing jobs who charge only minimal fees. You can get good articles that have all the keywords and keyword phrases you need that people are browsing for.
The investment you made for these articles would be worthwhile because you could use them for all the benefits you could offer. You hold copyrights to them and you will be able to use them anyway you want. As your articles help you in building your business and your site, you will have more articles to write and maybe then you wont be having second thoughts about articles.
A great source for finding ghost-writers (authors who write anonymously) is www.elance.com. Post your project on there, explaing how many articles you want an for which topic, and writers from all over the world will bid for it. Prices can be fairly low, and in comparison to the amount of marketing and traffic you can get from them, it is definitely worth the investment.

So, how do you know which sites to select?

Through my years of experience, and many conversations with the top Internet Marketers, in order to have the greatest impact, you need to use a 3-tiered article marketing approach targeting:

1. The major article directories like  Ideamarketers and zapcontent

3. Niche ezine and website publishers who need and want quality related content that will add value to their website or email newsletter audience

Yes, you do want to find websites that are highly visited and ezines that are the most read – but more importantly, you want to focus on finding websites and ezine publishers within your specific niche that have strong emotional connections to their audience.

Most likely, you are already visiting their websites or subscribing to their ezines. If you don't know who has a great ezine related to your industry niche, there are plenty of ezine directories like bestezines.com on the net that can guide you.

Other strategies include:

- Research your competitors – where are there articles being published?

- Perform a Google search. Just type in your industry or article topic followed by the words article submission. That's how I helped our client's book jump to the #2 spot on the NY Times Best Sellers List. I typed into Google, "health article submissions", "medical article submissions", and "thyroid dysfunctions article submissions" and discovered (among many other sites) the contact information for an About.com editor – one of the top 50 sites on the net today. After receiving the submission, the editor blasted an email book promotion to her entire list, giving Mark Hyman MD 1500 additional opt-in subscribers and much higher sales in just one day.

- Think about which organizations, your audience may belong to. If you're a sales lead expert, like our client, Mac McIntosh, then the chances of your audience belonging to an organization such as the American Marketing Association are very, very high. With more than 200,000 registered users and more than 2 million visits each year from a wide range of influential decision makers, Mac McIntosh's soon to be published article on the American Marketing Association's website will provide him with an excellent opportunity to connect with the marketing community.

- And, don't forget to check sites for magazines within your niche. More and more publications, are looking for fresh, new content for their website, to drive traffic up in order to sell more print magazines in the long run. This constant updating of articles found only on the website and not in their print publications means more opportunities for writers and experts. An article written by you published on sites like Entrepreneur Magazine and Mothering Magazine will give your company the vast amount of exposure and credibility it needs.

As it turned out, though, the affiliate portion was really structured more like a multi-level marketing scheme. You have to fill up both "legs" of the pyramid in order to get any pay-out. And so on.
Hundreds of dollars later, I had received a check for a grand total of $11 (which was a partial rebate on my own purchase). It wasn't entirely the program's fault. I could have "worked the system" more. But everything seemed to cost money.
The helpful how-to instructions I received on a daily basis all involved yet another increase in my monthly expenditures. American Express called because they were concerned.
"No, no, it's okay," I told them. "I ordered that."
I suppose somebody actually may have managed to make money with that set-up, including, no doubt, the guy with the friendly face. But I sure didn't.
When did I wise up? When I finally got curious about the specially-made-for-me auto-responder series that was supposed to lure my "customers" into joining that program as well.
I pretended to be such a customer and filled in the form on my website with one of my other email addresses.
What happened next was not what I had expected. I started receiving auto-responder messages alright, but with another marketer's name on them. Not one of them featured my own name. It looked as if they were getting people like me to pay for it, while an inside group of marketers were sending each other the resulting sign-ups.
When I wrote to the customer service people, I received no response. So I decided to divest myself of the system, which took me a whole lot longer than it had taken me to sign up. There were so many sub-programs I had joined in order to get that "free" website that I had lost track of some of them. I'm still sorting through my back email and credit card statements to make sure I find them all.
And every one of them was charging me on a monthly basis. Several of them required additional regular purchases just to keep my "preferred" status, which was necessary to make any money at all.
Can you see the circularity of this? I can't believe how long it took me to realize just how much of a loser's deal this was.
Now what should I have done and what will I do in the future? For starters, I won't spend hours signing up for a "right now" program ever again. Instead, I'll Google it to find out as much as possible before I even consider it.
And when I do sign up for anything, I'll investigate the whole system thoroughly right away, not months after I've been paying all sorts of fees.
I may have been side-tracked by work and life, and I probably shouldn't have signed up for anything like this just before going on a 3-week trip overseas, but I still feel I should have followed up a bit more closely. But what the heck. It's too late now anyway.
There's a rule I learned recently: Don't pay for affiliate programs. Unless it's for a copy of the product, of course, so that you'll have a way to evaluate it. Still, anything that requires monthly fees plus extra fees just to keep your place in some sort of hierarchy needs some healthy skepticism.
It also would have helped if I had followed my gut. I had made a big stash of fliers ("Make Money in your Jammies!" it screamed in neon green) and I couldn't make myself post any of them. What if someone sees me, I worried. Why didn't that tip me off that I wasn't as convinced as I tried to make myself believe.
The biggie though was the fact that the auto-responder didn't deliver the goods, and that I couldn't get a response from customer service. I might have given them the benefit of doubt (though it would have been a pretty bad glitch in the system) if they had responded, apologized, and fixed it.
But no such thing happened. Meanwhile, I kept reading the messages I received with the other person's name on them with morbid fascination ("Urgently go here!"), finding myself actually counting my blessings that they weren't signed with my own name.
So the bad part ended up being a blessing after all. I just wish I hadn't thrown so much money at this deal. But mistakes are learning lessons, right? And I sure learned a lot from this one.

Social networking is the new White Pages of the phone book, combined with the cataloging aspects of the Yellow Pages.  Yet they deliver this in a more productive and dynamic way.

While previously we had our high school year books and / or college year books, it's often difficult to keep up with changes because our record is a static one.  Sure we could try to stay up with alumni affairs offices, but that is laborious, time consuming, often in a different physical location.  Social networking sites allow us to access records easily at our computer, whenever we want and where ever we are.  Ease equals lower cost - much lower cost.

In addition, the data stored at different alumni affairs offices are in different formats.  So, it's very difficult to view high school colleagues with the same level of detail as college ones for example.  Social networking sites make it easier for us to keep up with the dynamism of our world because the data can be morphed and mapped to each other quickly, and data can be modified.  I don't think my 20 yr old high school records could accommodate video clips (they just didn't exist in the current form at that time), but a social networking site can.

In addition, with these static old world records, we're limited to the immediate circle that we had at that time.  Take for example high school records or yearbooks.  Our colleagues have moved on to other circles, which are in reality connected to yet other sets of circles (not just one but many).  This multiplicative effect is capture in social networking sites, but our static records are unable to easily keep up with this dynamic world.

Finally, we can leverage social networking sites to expand our circles and reach out to people that we would not have contact with previously.  This may be in the social sense by inviting a group to an event, or the business sense by sending your resume or product information to targeted people who may be interested, and may give you that big break.  Just getting this list of interested people would have been impossible with our old static social records.

In summary, social networking sites permit us to access our networks at much lower cost and much more easily.  Through online social network sites, we can change the data according to changes in technology and available features, and the data can work much more easily with each other.  Social networksites enable a multiplicative effect which our old static network records were unable to do.  Finally, social network sites permit us to expand our circles for our social and monetary benefit.
